Food Truck Festival of 23
If you were able to attend this year's Food Truck Festival in Eagan, you might have noticed something a little different from previous years. That is because this year the festival partnered with r.Cup to provide a sustainable experience.
What is r.Cup?
r.Cup is a company that focuses on reuse, specifically single use beverage containers at live events; approximately 4 billion cups end up in landfills from live events in North America alone. During and after the event r.Cup collects the cups and reuses them at other events. The key to success when it comes to r.Cup depends on the people who attend the event and use the cups and place them in the correct container for the company to collect. After the cups are collected, they are taken to r.Cup wash hubs that are built in conjunction with Ecolab, where the cups are sterilized and then used over and over again.
Results
By using r.Cup the Festival was able to eliminate 1,452 single use containers from the landfill! At the event 5,000 beer cups and 1,500 wine cups were distributed with a return rate of 98%. If you didn't realize you took a r.Cup with you, it is encouraged to bring them to the next local r.Cup event in your area!
